Secretariat Racing Into History

“Secretariat Racing Into History,” a monument sculpted by acclaimed artist Jocelyn Russell, is a tribute to the champion best known for setting and still holding the fastest time record in all three Triple Crown races in 1973. His victorious path forward is accented with Orma uplights.

This 3500-pound, 21-foot long sculpture is the only monument in Virginia that honors the famous racehorse. The challenge in lighting Secretariat was finding the right fixture to highlight the intricate physical details brought out by the artist, such as his muscles and the movement in his tail. Orma was selected to bring this sculpture to life. Its shallow profile, low glare, and multiple adjustable beam angles cast an enchanting light upon the horse and his rider.

Orma is a compact and shallow family of round LED in-grades suitable to illuminate outdoor architectural elements such as facades, columns, and pathways. Optic options are fixed or adjustable and available in spot, flood, wide flood, extra wide flood, or elliptical. Honeycomb and anti-glare (dark light) accessories can further customize this luminaire. The flexibility of Orma allows it to be used indoors and outdoors as an uplight, downlight, or on a wall.

Linea Light offers a wide range of high-performance LED luminaires and systems featuring functionality, style and design. Architectural and commercial applications include in-grade and recessed options.
