DAC-AIA-Washington Architectural Foundation
The District Architecture Center (DAC) was designed to educate and celebrate the architecture profession and local design community through exhibitions, lectures, and professional programming. Recently renovated with Whitegoods lighting to replace outdated luminaires installed 25 years ago, employees and visitors now enjoy a brighter, energy-efficient, and more contemporary DAC.
As the home of AIA|DC, the fifth largest chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the expectation of DAC’s members is high for the style and functionality of its headquarters. The Center delivers with over 11,000 square feet of event space including two exhibition galleries, state-of-the-art meeting rooms, classrooms, and conference rooms. All are available for use by its members, the Washington Architectural Foundation, and the public.
ProTools 60 Linear (PTL 60) Direct/Indirect Suspended is the star of this space, illuminating a two-story atrium in the heart of the building. PTL 60 is a suspended continuous linear with a 2.4” aperture, designed to provide minimal visual impact. An integrated solution compatible with all ceiling types, this luminaire seamlessly blends into the architecture.
A gallery located just inside the front door of the DAC is now enhanced with 60 Linear Wall Mount Direct, a 2.4” aperture, surface-mounted fixture featuring a flush lens for wide angle, even illumination, ideal for displaying artwork in the best light and providing wayfinding from one end of the gallery to the other.
In a lower-level conference room, PTL 60 Downlight Surface Mount washlights direct attention to hand-drawn portraits of notable architects. Extreme brightness control eliminates glare to place the focus on the art and provide efficient lighting for the meeting space.
All three fixtures are made in Maryland at the Inter-lux factory and are BAA/BABA compliant.
If you are located in the Maryland, DC, or Virginia area, consider holding your next event at the DAC! Details are at this link.
